Saddam Hussein a Fallen Arab Idol, Iraq leader fails to seize regional sympathies
CAIRO, Feb. 20 — In an upscale neighborhood of the Egyptian capital, under the watch of baton-wielding riot police, hundreds of protesters derided Arab leaders for aiding U.S. plans for a war against Iraq. They demanded that the Arab League expel any government that cooperates, a participant recalled, and they called for an end to U.S. military presence on Arab soil.
