Baghdad To Brooklyn is coming this August
It’s real, and it finally has a date.
Update: the book is out now — buy it on Amazon.
Baghdad To Brooklyn — the memoir I’ve been writing, in one form or another, since 2002 — is coming out late August 2026.
I’ve told this story in fragments for so long that it’s strange to see it as a single thing with a spine and a cover. But that’s what it is now.
What it’s about
It’s a memoir about leaving one home to build another. About what you carry with you and what you have to set down. It moves between the Baghdad I grew up in and the New York I chose, and it tries to tell both places honestly — the tenderness and the chaos, the humor and the grief.
This isn’t a hero’s story. It’s the story of an ordinary person facing a few limited doors and deciding which one to walk through.
Where to get it
If any of that sounds like your kind of book:
- It’s published — August 25, 2026, Manhattan Book Group.
- Buy it — Baghdad To Brooklyn on Amazon.
- Not sure yet? Kirkus Reviews made it a “Get It” pick — read the review.
Thank you for being here early. It means a lot to share this one.
