New York
New York
2001–present
On March 26, 2001, I walked into the World Trade Center to start a job at a small insurance company, and collected my building ID like a medal. Six months later the building was gone, and I spent the next decade in asylum limbo, unable to leave the country and unable to see my family. Somewhere in there I became a New Yorker, and then a comedian.
There was a sense of invincibility in those halls. The World Trade Center felt like the safest, most indestructible place on earth.
